The European Union must be independent of any decisions of Russia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that during the post-war recovery, emphasis will be placed on the implementation of green projects, and Ukraine is ready to become one of the European hubs of modern green energy, in particular, renewable gases.

It happened during a meeting with European Commission Vice President for Green Deal Frans Timmermans in Kyiv, reports the website of the President of Ukraine.

Zelensky thanked for the initiative to create a strategic partnership between Ukraine and the EU in the field of renewable gases.

“We must already decide what kind of generation should be in Ukraine, what should be independent energy generation in Europe in the future. Because we will win this war, but the neighborhood with Russia will remain. And therefore, the European Union should be independent of any decisions of Russia. Here we see ourselves as a reliable green energy partner,” he said.

It is noted that the importance of further strengthening the sanctions pressure on Russia, in particular in the energy sector, was also emphasized. In addition, the politicians discussed the state of the Ukrainian energy system.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in September 2022 President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, at a meeting with leaders of large businesses as part of the opening of the New York Stock Exchange, said that Ukraine can and will definitely will become a green energy hub for Europe.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his annual address to the Verkhovna Rada said that Ukraine should become and will become a leader in the construction of modern green energy.
