Eco-inspectors have calculated more than 55.7 billion hryvnias in damages from Russian aggression for pollution, clogging of waters and arbitrary use of water resources during 10 months of full-scale war.
In Kherson region, the seizure of the hydrotechnical facilities of the North Crimean Canal caused 15.5 billion hryvnias worth of damage, the State Environmental Inspection reports on Facebook.
It was noted that currently, it is allowed that the Russian Federation arbitrarily uses water resources, which are the national property of the people of Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Russian troops seized all hydrotechnical structures of the North Crimean Canal. Later, they blew up the shandor barrier and the canal began to fill with water from the Kakhovsky Reservoir.
"This violates the Constitution of Ukraine and other legal acts. At the same time, it causes significant damage to the sectors of the economy, creates a threat to the normal supply of the population's drinking, household, medical, health, agricultural and industrial needs," the press service emphasized.
The authors emphasized that the government broke the Agreement with the Russian Federation in the field of water relations. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to terminate 30-year diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation in the field of water relations.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the eco-inspectors calculated over 1.54 trillion hryvnias in damages to the surrounding natural environment of Ukraine, which the Russian army has inflicted since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, since February 24, Russian aggression has affected the environment of Kyiv and the region 47 billion in losses 483 million hryvnias.
