Both administrative and criminal liability is provided for illegal extraction of minerals

In Transcarpathia, eco-inspectors together with law enforcement officers exposed the illegal taking of sand and gravel mixture from the Tysa River in the village of Steblivka, Khust district.

Eco-inspectors measured the volume of the arbitrarily taken mixture to calculate the amount of damage, reports State Environmental Inspection in the Transcarpathian region.

"Transcarpathia is rich in minerals, but, unfortunately, their extraction does not always take place in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation," the press service of the State Inspection Service noted.

The authors emphasized that many complaints are received by law enforcement and control bodies, to which they respond in a timely manner.
