New capacities may appear in two years

In the Kyiv region, 2 modern waste processing plants are planned to be built in Boryspil, Brovary and Fastiv communities, which will use several processing technologies and produce biomethane.

The head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets, said that with this project, Ukraine is finally starting to overcome the accumulation of garbage, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.

On Thursday, September 8, the head of the Ministry of Environment Ruslan Strilets, the head of Kyiv military administration Oleksiy Kuleba and the city heads of communities signed the Memorandum on cooperation and partnership

"About 2.5 months ago, people's deputies adopted the framework law "On waste management". Today, we are starting the implementation of the reform with a concrete practical case," he said.

The planned capacity of the joint plant for Brovary and Boryspil communities will be 110-120 thousand tons of waste per year, in Fastivska community – 35-100 thousand tons per year. New capacities may appear in two years.

The plants will process organic (food waste) with subsequent production of biomethane, as well as deep sorting of waste with the selection of valuable materials – scrap metal, glass and plastic.

Strelets explained that the projects will be implemented at the expense of loans from European banks, and negotiations with investors are also underway. After all, the framework law created transparent conditions and guarantees for the work of investors in this sector.

At least 200 new waste processing facilities are planned to be built in Ukraine.

"We have already carried out analytical work and formed a draft plan for the placement of the necessary waste processing capacities throughout Ukraine. This is a kind of map on which more than 200 potential investment cases are identified. Among them are today's cases of Kyiv region. In general, up to 10 new enterprises are planned to be built in the region," Strilets said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrore, that in the Kyiv region, the Israeli company GreenMix plans to build a plant with ecological recycling of building materials waste.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Brovary, Kyiv region, at a meeting of the commission on technological and ecological safety and emergency situations, the necessary measures for the site were discussed disposal of 19 thousand m3 of products food of animal origin.
