One illegally caught crayfish will have to pay 3,332 hryvnias

In the Vinnytsia, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv regions, top poachers caused losses totaling more than 1.3 million hryvnias in one week.

Fishermen used boats, nets and caught overtime, the State Fisheries Agency reports on Facebook.

"At the height of the fishing season, violators of the fishing rules understand it in their own way, hoping that the war will erase everything. But fish guards of the State Fisheries Agency prove that it is useless to count on the impunity dreamed of by fish poachers," the article says.

Thus, in Poltava Oblast, the fish patrol together with the police in the Vorsklian Bay of the Kamian Reservoir discovered a violator who illegally caught 43 kg of fish with 17 nets from a boat with losses of about UAH 590,000.

Chernihiv fish guards together with the police found a local resident who was on the lake near the village of Sydorivka of the Komari community caught fish with the help of 4 nets, causing losses of almost UAH 275,000.

Dnipropetrovsk fish patrols exposed fishermen, one of whom illegally caught fish with 6 nets on the Vilyanka River, near the village of Vilne, with losses of over UAH 90,000. Another violator also fished with nets in the Dnipro Reservoir, near the village of Mykilske-on-Dnipro, causing damage to fish stocks in the amount of over UAH 57,000.

In the Berezansky estuary of the Mykolaiv oblast, fish guards exposed an intruder who illegally fished with 3 nets, causing losses of UAH 83,000. Also, during a raid on the coast of the Black Sea, together with police and military personnel, the Mykolaiv fish patrol found 3 violators who illegally harvested 19 kg of shrimp with livers, causing damages in the amount of over UAH 61,000.

"Violators failed to make money in Vinnytsia as well. The fish patrol detected three hunters on the Pivdenny Bug River near the village of Granitne, which illegally caught 53 crayfish, caused losses of over 176,000 hryvnias," the report says.

The article noted that one illegally caught crayfish will have to pay 3,332 hryvnias.

"We call on everyone to take a responsible attitude to the fishing of aquatic biological resources, so as not to be exposed to unpleasant consequences in case of violation of the law and for the sake of preserving fish stocks in our reservoirs," the State Fisheries Agency noted.

As reported Ecopolitic before, in the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions, during the three months of the spawning ban, poachers caused losses totaling more than 250 thousand hryvnias.
