Every year, the Internet and its ancillary generate more emissions than the production of the whole of Germany

Ukrainians are encouraged to join the action on digital cleaning, dedicated to Earth Day on April 22.

Each spam emission emits about 0.3 grams of CO2, and sending a billion such emails equals the work of 3 million cars, according to the Ministry of Environment in the Telegram.

Every year, the Internet and its ancillary systems produce 900 million tons of CO2, which generates more emissions than the annual production of Germany as a whole.

The material noted that digital garbage can hide. So little-known programs, unnecessary emails, duplicate photos, meaningless videos, cloud storage with unused files become a source of CO2.

Therefore, Ukrainians are urged to delete unnecessary files that are digital garbage in their own gadgets.

The action is organized by the All-Ukrainian Youth Movement Let’s do it Ukraine and the International Youth Movement School Recycling World with the support of the Ministry of Environment.

It will be recalled that research has shown that unnecessary photos and spam harm the environment no less than air travel.

As EcoPolitica previously reported, life without coffee, cheese and computer games, this is how Credit Suisse modeled a "green future".
