In the Kherson region, the flooding of the Nizhnyodniprovskyi National Nature Park due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP caused losses of 46.55 billion hryvnias.

This was stated by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Ruslan Strelets, on the air of the telethon Edyni Novyvi, the press service of the department reports on Facebook.

He said that the intensity of flooding is decreasing, but the water is still coming. Landslides, water transport of rocks destroyed by water are observed.

The shooter emphasized that about 50 islands in the territory of the national park were flooded, that is, almost all of them. The water level near the islands rose by 3.5 meters on an area of about 80,000 hectares, which is similar to the area of the city of Berlin.

"The high water affected the lands of the Emerald Network and the Ramsar sites. Due to the flooding, the entire species composition of the flora and fauna of the national park was affected. Some species may disappear," he said.

It is noted that the flora of the Nizhny Dnipro National Park includes 1,016 species, all of which have suffered damage. Among the animals that can die: wild boar, fallow deer, red deer, roe deer, hare, pheasant, beaver, muskrat.

The shooter emphasized that some species of the national park were found only on its territory, that is, in the only place on earth and will probably be destroyed. In addition, there will be a significant deterioration of water quality in the Dnipro River and the Black Sea.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that due to the explosion of the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP in the Kherson region, the Nizhnyodniprovsky national nature park was flooded. On this territory there are lands of the Emerald network and Ramsar sites, which are of global importance.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, about 55,000 hectares of forests were flooded in the Kherson region due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, of which 47,000 hectares are in the occupied territory.
