Abandoned animals went to the soldiers, who could somehow feed and warm them.

Oleg Radionov, the defender of Irpen, said that in between combat missions he fed the animals abandoned in the city.

And at night, he let dogs and cats into the dugout to keep them warm, ShoTam reports.

The material said that the man stood up for Ukraine back in 2014 and went through the battles for Debaltseve. Then he and his family moved to Kyiv and opened an online pet store PetMarket.ua.

Rodionov said that business was going well. However, a full-scale invasion changed everything - the man returned to military affairs.

He noted that in the Kyiv region there were many dogs and cats that were left without a home and owners.

“In Gorenka, Moshchun, Irpen, these abandoned animals were everywhere. They went to the soldiers who could provide them with some food, warm them in their dugouts,” the military man shared.

He also gave food from his shop to volunteers so they could feed the animals.

Rodionov added that after the liberation of the Kiev region, he went to the east, where he received several wounds. In the fall, for health reasons, he completed his service and, thanks to the help of the Veterans Fund, returned to the pet store. He also helps out his brothers.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that zoo volunteer Anastasia Tikhaya asked the Ukrainians for help for an animal shelter. Her photo, when a twenty-year-old girl on foot led 15 sick dogs out of Irpin, which was engulfed in fire, went viral on social networks and got into a number of world media.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kherson, police rescued a dog that was tied up in a courtyard in the middle of the ruins near a huge crater from a Russian missile.
