Polluting enterprises in Lviv region paid 33.8 million hryvnias in environmental tax for January-March 2023 (first quarter).
10 million hryvnias from the total amount have been credited to the regional environmental protection fund, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration reports on Facebook.
The message emphasized that the amount of eco-taxes increased by 7 million hryvnias compared to the first quarter of 2022.
It is noted that in Lviv region, environmental tax is paid by about 7,000 business entities – legal entities and individuals.
In the message, it was emphasized that the eco-tax is a state-wide mandatory payment, which is paid for the actual volumes:
- emissions into atmospheric air;
- discharged pollutants into water bodies;
- placement of waste;
- generation of radioactive waste.
The environmental tax is most often paid for emissions into the atmosphere and discharges of pollutants into water bodies. Currently, the environmental tax rate on CO2 emissions in Ukraine is one of the lowest in the world.

From this amount, 9.8 million hryvnias will go to the special fund of the regional budget for environmental protection, which is 177.8% of the expected amount.
