Residents of Rivne will be able to monitor air quality online in real time.
Five public monitoring stations from "LUN City AIR" have been installed in the city, and later they plan to increase their number to 10, the mayor of Rivne, Oleksandr Tretyak, reported on Facebook.
He said that the city received these stations for free. They will measure the concentration of dangerous solid particles PM1, PM2.5, PM10, the source of which are automobile emissions, industry, fires, etc.
The station map is available at the link.
Tretyak emphasized that any citizen can apply to install a station at home. This requires constant access to electricity and a Wi-Fi network.
"It's nice that the air in the city is clean, so residents can breathe freely, walk, ventilate the premises. We continue to work on the environmental friendliness of our city and its greening," he said.
Tretyak added that such a project is extremely relevant for Rivne. After all, there are several powerful enterprises around the city.
He emphasized that in 2022, the polluting enterprise in the Severny microdistrict agreed to transfer its capacity outside the city. However, residents have started to complain about unpleasant smells in this neighborhood again.
"I hope that thanks to this project, we will be able to identify its source and stop the pollution," Tretyak added.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the Regional Department of Ecology announced a tender for the purchase of 8 indicative automated air quality monitoring stations for the amount of over 11 million hryvnias. The agency was suspected of manipulation of ecotenders.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the appeals court in the Rivne region made a partial decision to stop the activity of Color S.I.M. LLC, that in the village of Klevan, to eliminate air pollution.
