The law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings on the fact of cruelty to animals

Well-known animal rights activist and veterinarian Oleksiy Surovtsev called on Ukrainians to help the animals of the Dog Help Ukraine shelter in Kyiv region, which is accused of animal abuse.

Some of the animals have been evacuated from the shelter, but more than 50 dogs, many goats and horses remain in the cold without food and heat, Surovtsev wrote on Facebook.

As you know, in late January, the shelter was suspected of animal cruelty. The animal rights activists rescued some of the emaciated and frozen animals, who were living in unsanitary conditions and eating the remains of dead goats and carcasses of unknown origin.

The law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings on the fact of cruelty to animals.

"All the guilty will be punished, but while the investigation is ongoing, there is nowhere to take the animals, because all the shelters are full. I take it under personal control and want to buy feed, necessary equipment, booths. Already today I bought 86 bales of hay, which will be enough for a week. So please join the meeting. I will personally control, procure and involve people," wrote Surovtsev.

He said that currently a team of animal protectionists is collecting information about the victims of the actions of the shelter management, in which Yana Maiboroda is involved. In 2018, she was found guilty of animal cruelty.

You can join the rescue of animals using the following details:

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was called upon to strengthen criminal and administrative liability for cruel treatment of animals, as well as to introduce the basics of humane treatment of animals into the school curriculum.
