As of July 1, 1,702 fires were extinguished, as a result of which 2,704 hectares of Transcarpathian land were burned

In Zakarpattia, in the village of Chereivtsi of the Ivanovets territorial community of the Mukachevo district, on July 1, grass weeds destroyed 0.7 hectares of wheat on private allotments and another 7 hectares of dry vegetation of this pasture.

Three fire engines and 17 rescuers worked on the liquidation, reports the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast on Facebook.

The rescuers noted that they have to go out and put out more than a dozen fires in the ecosystems of the region. As of July 1, 1,702 fires were eliminated, as a result of which 2,704 hectares of Zakarpattian land were burned.

"It took more than two hours for the fire fighters under the blazing sun to stop the spread of the fire to even larger areas, and later to eliminate the fire completely," the report says.

Local residents helped the rescuers and plowed the territory along the front of the fire with a tractor.

"Such fires destroy not only the environment, but also the harvest, which is unacceptable in times of war, when every ear of corn must be saved for our victory," the rescuers emphasized.
