The leadership of the Podilsky district was accused of indifference

Activists have accused the Kyiv City State Administration of ignoring a natural landfill in the Podil district at 19/33 Shchekavytska Street, which they reported in March 2023.

The area is cluttered with household waste, plastic, and other debris, according to the NGO Bureau for Combating Environmental Crimes on Facebook.

As you know, the historic building "Vertyporokh House" is located at 19/33 Shchekavytska Street, which is an original example of Podil architecture. The building is currently in a state of disrepair.

Activists emphasized that in March they discovered a large-scale garbage dump, which not only harms the environment, but also spoils the appearance of architecture and green areas. They appealed to the district administration with a demand to remove the garbage.

"We were simply ignored, no one cared, because this is not an "urgent" matter, apparently. Well, a year has already passed, and the landfill is undisturbed in the same place, – the BCEC said. "Another fact of the leadership's indifference to the state of the district."

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv, a construction waste dump was set up on the coast in the Tyagle Lake landscape reserve.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the general director of the "Kyivavtodor" company and the former head of one of Kyiv's operating departments were informed of the suspicion of land pollution, which caused losses of almost 300 million hryvnias. Various wastes, including toxic ones, were brought to the site, which was intended exclusively for collected snow.
