The transparency of the lake water reaches more than 2 m

Eco-activists call on the Kyiv City Council to create a new nature reserve on the purest Vidro lake with a unique nature in order to protect it from potential development.

The corresponding petition, which in 4 days gathered more than 870 signatures out of the required 6,000, was registered on the website of the Kyiv City Council.

"This lake plays an important role in preserving natural resources and maintaining the ecological balance in our region," the appeal reads.

It is noted that the lake borders the Holosiiv National Nature Park, but is not part of it. Its area is 33.8 hectares, and the transparency of the water reaches 2 m or more. Near the lake, a rare Red Book plant aldrovanda vesica was found, as well as many rare and protected species of plants and animals, namely:

  • gray and short-eared owls;
  • goshawk;
  • fisher girl;
  • gray partridge;
  • small tern;
  • magpie wader

"Unfortunately, developers who want to build a unique corner of Kyiv's wild nature liked this area," the appeal reads. – We call for the creation of a PZF object – the "Lake Vidro" reserve, and to prevent the construction of this unique reservoir."

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Kyiv residents are demanding to stop the construction of the Gravity Park residential complex consisting of 13 high-rise buildings on 18 hectares of forest in the Svyatoshyn district bordering the Holosiivskyi national nature park.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kyiv, the unique Blue Lake has dried up, which is in the Podilsky district near the Vynogradar housing estate, which officials promised to save. The lake disappeared, in particular, due to the construction of a high-rise building, which was never completed.
