The collected lamps will be recycled

Ukrainians will be able to exchange old incandescent lamps for 5 new LED lamps in all cities and towns of the urban type through the "Diya" application.

However, in the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, such a service will start on February 9, reports the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov on Telegram.

He also said that since the beginning of the first stage of the exchange (since January 30), Ukrainians have already ordered more than 1.1 million energy-saving light bulbs for exchange.

As the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets noted in the "Yedini Novosti" telethon, the collected lamps will not go to the landfill, but to recycling.

"It is important for us to show our European partners that we understand the principles of the circular economy and implement them," said Strilets.

He said that local self-government bodies and military-civilian administrations will conclude contracts with companies that will dismantle these lamps. The components of the lamps will be recycled for the manufacture of new products.

The program is implemented with the support of the European Union and France.

As EcoPolitic reported before, on Monday, January 30, the first stage of the exchange has started 5 old incandescent lamps for energy-efficient LED lamps in Ukrposhta branches.
