1,668 air samples were analyzed at the observatory

In the air of Kyiv during the week from June 19 to 24, an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentration of nitrogen dioxide by 3.8 times was found.

Compared to the previous week, the level of pollution with sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde has slightly increased, according to the weekly report on air pollution from the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky.

According to the data of the observatory, the exceeding of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) in terms of the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:

  • 1.9-3.8 times – on Demiivska, Halytska and Bessarabska squares, Obolonski, Nauka and Beresteyski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Dovzhenka Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets .

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • 3 times – on Inzhenera Borodin Street (June 24);
  • by 1.3-2.1 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonski and Beresteyska avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • 1.1-2.8 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonski, Nauka and Beresteyski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Dovzhenka, Hetman Pavla Polubotka, Kaunaska and Sklyarenko streets .

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content carbon monoxide:

  • in 1.1-1.5 times – on Beresteysky prospect, Akademika Strazheska, Dovzhenka, Sklyarenko streets (June 22-23) .

Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1668 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary stations.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that found in Kyiv bacteria and contaminants in water six bodies of water on city beaches during planned monitoring studies.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv in the Poznyaki microdistrict mowed the area of natural growth of various herbs, which the communal workers were not going to mow.
