In 2023, the beach season will not open in Kyiv

In Kyiv, bacteria and pollution were found in the water of six reservoirs on city beaches during scheduled monitoring studies.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Facebook.

It is noted that the research was conducted on June 12-18 under the contract with KP Pleso. It showed:

  • Exceeding the index of lactose-positive Escherichia coli (LCP) – on the beaches "Telbin", "Zoloty";
  • non-compliance with sanitary and chemical indicators – on the beaches "Rayduga", "Galerny", "Verbny", "Pushka Vodytsia";
  • excess of biological oxygen consumption (BSK5) – on the beach "Telbin";
  • earthy and fishy smell – on the beach "Rainduga".

The message emphasized that the water met current standards for all indicators on the following beaches:

  • "Baby";
  • "Suburban Slobidka";
  • "Venice";
  • "Rainbow";
  • "Fourth";
  • lake "Troyeshchyna".

KMDA warned that in 2023 there are no plans to open the beach season in Kyiv. People are advised to refrain from visiting the beaches, because there are no shelters there.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv, municipal workers removed an illegally installed beach from the territory of the Youth Beach concrete structure about 850 meters in size.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a study by scientists from the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Expertise showed that the water and soil of Kyiv Oblast contaminated with explosive residues, chemicals and fuel and lubricants.
