Violators caused damage to nature worth millions of hryvnias in half a year

The biggest damage, amounting to UAH 43 million, was caused to the region's land resources

In the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions during the first half of 2022, violators of the requirements of environmental protection legislation caused environmental damage in the total amount of 50.8 million hryvnias.

Law enforcement agencies have been handed over 3 materials on the grounds of a crime against the environment, and 1 criminal proceeding has been opened, the State Inspectorate of the South-Western district reports on Facebook.

During this time, eco-inspectors conducted 280 control measures in the field of environmental protection, rational use, reproduction and protection of natural resources.

They drew up 207 protocols for violating the requirements of environmental protection legislation, and 191 citizens paid fines totaling more than 77,000 hryvnias. Also, 9 protocols were submitted to the judicial authorities for consideration.

During six months, violators paid fines in the amount of 63.3 thousand hryvnias. Voluntary and forced damages were also collected due to court decisions for a total amount of over 3.4 million hryvnias.

The greatest damage was caused to the land resources of the region, the amount of calculated losses is more than 43 million hryvnias.

The article emphasized that during the period of martial law, planned and unplanned measures of state supervision (control) and state market supervision were suspended.

However, during the period of martial law, it is allowed to carry out unscheduled measures of state supervision (control) in certain areas, in particular regarding the prevention of uncontrolled price increases for goods that have significant social significance, solely on the basis of a decision of the central executive body, which ensures the formation of state policy in the relevant area , in the presence of a threat that has a significant negative impact on the rights, legitimate interests, life and health of a person, protection of the natural environment and ensuring the security of the state.

Conducting an unscheduled event on the basis of a citizen's appeal is possible only with the approval of the Ministry of Environment, provided that the negative impact in the above areas is confirmed.

As reported Ecopolitic before, in the first half of 2022 in Ukraine, violators of environmental protection requirements caused damage to the environment in the amount of 742.7 mln UAH.
