This step is necessary for the implementation of the company's ESG strategy

Ukrnafta has started implementing green technologies and installed solar panels at a gas station in Obolon district of Kyiv.

This was announced on Facebook by Sergiy Koretsky, director of Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta, respectively.

According to him, the installation of a rooftop solar power plant will save on electricity, reduce the dependence of the filling station on centralized power supply and make the filling station almost autonomous.

The installed solar power plant consists of 44 panels and has a capacity of 25 kW. The energy equipment includes a modern inverter with artificial intelligence functions.

“One such solar station allows us to save hundreds of thousands of hryvnias a year, and from March to October it will be able to cover more than half of the total consumption of the filling station,” says Sergiy Koretsky.

He said that the solar power plant is currently working exclusively for the internal consumption of the complex.

The Ukrnafta CEO considers solar power plants to be an effective long-term investment, as their lifespan is 20-25 years and maintenance costs are minimal. He also emphasized that an important factor in the context of electricity shortages is that the local solar power plant reduces the load on the power grid.

“And a clean and environmentally friendly energy source helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which helps protect the environment and meets the goals of the company's ESG strategy,” Koretsky said.

Earlier, Ecopolitic I wrote about how many domestic SES there are already is established in Ukraine. We also made recommendations, how to clean solar panels from snow.
