The Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to the Waste Declaration Procedure, which will strengthen control over the generation and movement of waste.
Now such declarations will be submitted by the vast majority of companies in the country, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reports on Facebook.
It is noted that earlier, entrepreneurs filled out declarations annually, that is, they reported on the volumes of waste generated by them. However, the system was not effective and waste, including hazardous waste, was systematically found in places not intended for this, namely in forest belts, near settlements, etc.
"Not a single ton of "garbage" should be lost either in the" lines "of reporting, or somewhere in the forest belts," the press service noted.
The message explained that the new rules will allow:
- track the life cycle of each ton of waste, including who generated it, where it was transferred and what happens to it next. It is for this purpose that the form of the declaration has been changed and detailed;
- declarations will be submitted by the vast majority of Ukrainian companies (previously there were about 15,000). All generators of hazardous waste and those to whom they are transferred for processing are accountable. As well as all owners of other waste with a total annual volume of more than 50 tons, which is equivalent to 2-6 truckloads of garbage.
Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets stressed that declarations will continue to be submitted in digital format through the EcoSystem platform. An electronic waste management system is currently being implemented on the platform, which will simplify the process.
“Declarations will be generated annually by the program automatically – based on the quarterly reports submitted by business entities. Data analysis will also be automated. Now, when using and entering all data into the waste management system, the subject only needs to check and sign the declaration. So we continue to make our country clean, European and modern,” he said.
Recall, The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Procedure for Developing Regional Waste Management Plans, which establishes uniform approaches to strategic planning of waste management in the regions.
Earlier, EcoPolitica analyzed Law No. 2320-IX “On Waste Management” in the industry and whether Ukraine will be able to overcome the garbage invasion.
