Ukraine will create a unified online system to ensure chemical safety

The platform will be launched as part of the EcoSystem

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for the creation and operation of the Information System for Ensuring Chemical Safety.

This was announced by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

Administrative services for businesses and open registers for citizens will be available in the information system.

In particular, businesses will be able to online:

  • provide documents for registration of a chemical substance;
  • obtain permission to use toxic and especially dangerous chemicals withdrawn from the market;
  • report the use of an alternative name for a chemical substance;
  • submit a notification on the hazard classification of chemical products.

Information about:

  • chemical products, their volumes supplied to the market and hazardous properties;
  • potential risks associated with the use of chemicals and safety precautions;
  • manufacturers, importers, suppliers of chemical products;
  • chemical incidents and identified chemical safety hazards.

On October 18, 2022, EcoPolitic reported that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted government bill No. 8037 “On chemical safety and management of chemical products” as a basis.

The Ministry of Natural Resources recalled that in December 2022, Ukraine adopted a framework document for European integration – the Law “On Ensuring Chemical Safety and Managing Chemical Products.” It is the basis for building a national chemicals management system based on the European model.

In May, we told you that the government approved Technical Regulations for Hazard Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Chemical Products.
