Is it difficult and expensive to live eco-friendly as a whole family? But no! And we will prove this in a new project that we will implement in October-November as part of the "WE ACT: We act for women and their opportunities" program.
It will be an interesting marathon challenge for families who are ready to change their habits to lead a more environmentally friendly lifestyle, the press release says.
In the "Eco-Friendly" project, we will offer 16 families to introduce 8 ecological habits into their lives for 21 days. Among them are waste sorting, using eco-bags instead of bags, reusable items instead of disposable ones, as well as growing Peremoha oak at home. Other habits, such as those that affect the energy efficiency of the home, energy saving, consumption of craft local products, encourage reuse and remake (repair or recycle old appliances or re-sewn wardrobe items), form new family eco-traditions that bring the whole family together. Participating families will be able to choose independently from the list offered by the organizers.
To implement eco-habits in everyday life, we will provide participants with materials, including reusable dishes, eco-bags, sorting boxes, energy-saving lamps and other necessary items. For families with diaper-age children – reusable diapers and training panties. So parents will have the opportunity to see the convenience, safety and economy of modern eco-friendly baby hygiene products.
We will talk about everything, teach, consult and share our own experience and organize an expert webinar!
The acquired knowledge will help the participants in the future to effectively use available resources, influence energy savings and be frugal.
Four families from four communities (Kyiv, Lviv, Kryvyi Rih, Kurnensk Territorial Community of Zhytomyr Region) will be able to become participants in the "Ekoruzhny" project. Valuable prizes are provided for the most active ones, which will delight the whole family.
The curators of the project, who will provide mentorship, support and cover the process, will be representatives of four public organizations: "Stardub", "Zero Waste Lviv", "Women's Hundred of Kryvyi Rih", "Kurne 2018".
Our goal is to unite families and help them form and implement an eco-friendly attitude towards the environment in the process of living together.
Environmentalism is more timely today than ever. During this eco-challenge, the participants will see by their own example how much money can be saved by giving preference to reusable items instead of disposable ones: this applies to hygiene products, dishes, and small household items. Accordingly, reduce the amount of waste generation. They will also learn how to save, effectively use available resources, and introduce energy-saving and thrift habits. And this, oh, how relevant on the eve of winter.
Do you want to become a project participant? Fill out the registration form for competitive selection and wait for feedback from the coordinators in each of the communities: https://chut.ly/Vbntigch. Registration continues until the end of the day on October 27.
The "WE ACT: We act for women and their opportunities" program is implemented by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA with the financial support of the European Union. One of the goals of the program is to increase the gender sensitivity of the health and environmental protection sectors. The implementation of the "Eco-Friendly" project will contribute to the reduction of gender gaps in the field of environmental protection, found by the study "Gender perspective of the field of environmental protection in Ukraine" conducted by UNFPA within the framework of the WE ACT program https://ukraine.unfpa.org/uk/15457284 .
