The data is updated once a day

Ukrainians will be able to monitor the radiation background level at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in Energodar online on the Saveecobot platform.

Measurements of the radiation background are carried out every day directly on the industrial site of the station, reports the public organization SaveDnipro on Facebook.

So, as of May 17 at 3:30 p.m., the radiation background level was 90 nSv/h with a permissible value of 300 nSv/h. The Saveecobot map is available at the link.

Eco-activists explained that such data from all NPPs of Ukraine is transferred to Energoatom once a day. However, measurements of the radiation background are carried out continuously and the results are sent to the IAEA automatically.

The authors said that they are trying to get the energy companies to open online monitoring to the public.

"Dear atomic scientists! If you want to create an image of nuclear energy as safe and reliable, then such dosage and secrecy is a shot in the foot. Open to the public the data of measurements of the radiation background at Ukrainian nuclear power plants in full," they urged.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Ukraine has created an online map of radiation background monitoring in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and other parts of the country as part of the bGeigies for Ukraine project.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in May 2022 the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Strategy of the integrated automated radiation monitoring system for the period until 2024.
