The project will become another important element in the European integration of Ukraine

Ukraine will launch a large international project to solve problems, particularly environmental problems, of the Tisza River.

Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and Romania will take part in the project, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko reported on Facebook.

He said that the European Association of Territorial Cooperation (EUTC) is being created in order to attract international investments to solve common problems related to the use of Tysa water bodies. Namely:

  • environmental;
  • economic;
  • transport and logistics, etc.

"This project will become another important element of cooperation with European states within the framework of the integration processes of Ukraine in the EU," he emphasized Chubirko, adding that the project is his initiative.

He noted that there is already a verbal agreement from all participating countries.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets and the Minister of Environment Protection, Water and Forests of Romania Barna Tanchos signed the Agreement on the Implementation of the Espoo Convention. This Agreement applies to the Carpathian region and common transboundary river basins, in particular the Danube Delta.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the director of one of Rakhiv Oblast's utility companies will be tried in Transcarpathia, whose official negligence led to the growth of an unauthorized landfill on the banks of the Tysa River.
