Solving the environmental problems of cities requires step-by-step work, which involves a number of complex processes

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih closed two outdated coke batteries No. 1 and No. 2, which will reduce pollutant emissions from coke chemical production by a third.

Olena Kryvoruchkina, deputy head of the Committee on Environmental Policy, chief coordinator of the Operational Headquarters for Fixing Ecocrimes, emphasized on her Facebook page that this will save the city from one of the big environmental problems.

From now on, the enterprise will operate more ecologically safe and innovative batteries No. 5 and No. 6.

Kryvoruchkina noted that the shutdown of the batteries was not related to the war or its consequences. This is the result of the interaction of government, community and business.

"This is the result of constructive work, during which the business is not "nightmared", but creates prerequisites for its ecologically oriented development, – she said. – I am sure that Kryvyi Rih will remain an industrial giant of Ukraine, but only under the conditions of a green course."

She also emphasized that it is impossible to solve environmental problems of cities in "one day". This requires step-by-step work, which involves a number of complex processes.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih on October 3-6 will start the process of putting into operation the new complex of coke batteries No. 5 and No. 6, which will allow reduce pollutant emissions by 1,600 tons per year.
