Eco-inspectors in Kryvyi Rih calculated 46.4 million hryvnias in damages due to the pollution of land and a pond in the Kaletina stream with sewage.
This became the most high-profile environmental violation in the week from March 17 to 23, the State Environmental Inspection reports on Telegram.
It is noted that the case materials were handed over to the Kryvyi Rih Southern District Prosecutor's Office.
The report emphasized that the second largest violation of the requirements of environmental protection legislation was found in the Volyn region. Thus, the state-owned enterprise "Volynvugillia" carried out excessive dumping of pollutants with return waters from the "Buzhanska Mine" into the Studyanka River without a special permit. The losses amounted to almost 1.7 million hryvnias.
The press service said that from March 17 to 23, eco-inspectors conducted 107 environmental protection measures and drew up 271 protocols on administrative offenses.
It is noted that the total amount of fines imposed is 69 thousand hryvnias, and 55 thousand hryvnias were charged to the state budget. In addition, the total amount of presented claims and lawsuits is 2.32 million hryvnias. 788,000 hryvnias were collected voluntarily and forcibly.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that eco-inspectors calculated more than 10.8 million hryvnias in damages for the felling of 1,819 trees in the field protection forest strip on the territory of the Novopil village council of the Kryvorizka district in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-activists called on the residents of Kryvyi Rih to take care of the supply of drinking and technical water, as well as personal safety and alternative water supply in emergency conditions. Damage to the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP carries risks of limiting water supply, irrigation of fields, and also threatens the ecosystem of the reservoir and the operation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
