In Kryvyi Rih in August, an excess of standard concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (up to 0.28 mg/m3) , sulfur dioxide (up to 0.74 mg/m3) and formaldehyde (0.38 mg/m3) along the largest highways of the city.
In order to mitigate the impact of vehicles on the air, new cars must be equipped with effective systems and devices to reduce emissions, reports the Analytical Department of Air Quality of Kryvyi Rih on Facebook.
Specialists analyzed the air on five transport highways of the city. Monitoring showed the following results:
- Crossroads of st. Svitalskyi and bypass road (no excesses detected):
- nitrogen dioxide – 0.024 mg/m3;
- sulfur dioxide – 0.2 mg/m3;
- formaldehyde – 0.017 mg/m3;
- dust – 0.19 mg/m3.
- Crossroads of st. Kobylyanskyi and Myru Avenue (exceeding concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, dust and carbon monoxide):
- nitrogen dioxide – 0.026 mg/m3;
- sulfur dioxide – 0.42 mg/m3;
- formaldehyde – 0.037 mg/m3;
- dust – 0.55 mg/m3;
- carbon monoxide – 6.92 mg/m3.
– Crossroads of Metalurgiv Avenue and St. Nikopol highway (excess concentrations of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide):
- nitrogen dioxide – 0.24 mg/m3;
- sulfur dioxide – 0.32 mg/m3;
- formaldehyde – 0.029 mg/m3;
- dust – 0.49 mg/m3;
- carbon monoxide – 5.21 mg/m3.
- Crossroads of st. Volodymyr Veliky and st. of the 80th Airborne Assault Brigade (excess concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, formaldehyde and carbon monoxide):
- nitrogen dioxide – 0.28 mg/m3;
- sulfur dioxide – 0.74 mg/m3;
- formaldehyde – 0.038 mg/m3;
- dust – 0.46 mg/m3;
- carbon monoxide – 6.08 mg/m3.
- 95th quarter (excess concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, formaldehyde and carbon monoxide):
- nitrogen dioxide – 0.26 mg/m3;
- sulfur dioxide – 0.66 mg/m3;
- formaldehyde – 0.038 mg/m3;
- dust – –0.38 mg/m3;
- carbon monoxide – 6.12 mg/m3.
"Exceeding the one-time concentration of formaldehyde is due to both the influence of transport and the processes of photochemical oxidation of pollutants under the conditions of windless, clear and sunny weather," the report emphasized.
In 2023, the city purchased 10 new, modern buses that meet the highest environmental standards – EURO-6. This standard regulates the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases in accordance with European legislation.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Kryvyi Rih enterprises were obliged to carry out complex dust suppression measures in residential areas located in the zone of influence of their production activities.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in August 2023, in Kryvyi Rih, in the Ingulets and Saksagan rivers, an excess of the maximum permissible regulatory indicators of chlorides, sulfates and other pollutants was found.
