Both sides of the panels can generate energy, which increases the efficiency of electricity production by 5-7%

The world's largest solar power plant was launched in China Huadian Tianjin Haijing on 1000 MW.

The SPP is located on the reservoir of a salt deposit, and the project covers the integrated extraction of salt for power generation and fishing, reports CGTN.

It is noted that the SES has a combined industrial model of photovoltaic power generation, halogen production on the water surface and underwater aquaculture. In addition, the plant improves the power supply capacity in northern China.

The material said that the area of the station reaches 1,333.3 hectares, which can be compared with 1,868 football fields. The SES will be able to produce 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy per year. This energy is enough to meet the needs of 1.5 million families. In addition, the SPP will avoid emissions of 1.25 million tons of carbon.

CGTN emphasized that the distance between photovoltaic arrays reaches 14 meters, that is, twice as much as in traditional SES. In addition, the angle of inclination of the panels is 17 degrees, although this indicator usually reaches 30-40 degrees.

It is noted that this will minimize the shielding of the panels on the surface of the water, which can affect the extraction of salt.

The material added that both sides of the panels can generate energy. So the upper side can directly absorb sunlight to produce electricity. The back can absorb sunlight reflected from the surface of the water. This increases the efficiency of electricity production by 5-7%.

"The project will contribute to the transformation of the green energy structure in northern China and stimulate the internal circulation of the regional industrial chain," said project manager Yang Fan.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that China will build a gravity battery with a capacity of 100 MWh, which will be able to accumulate green energy with a two-way transfer efficiency of more than 80%.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in 2021, the world's largest rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 120 MW was launched in China.
