Criminal proceedings were instituted against company officials

In the Kirovohrad region, eco-inspectors recorded 2 cases of illegal mineral extraction by subsoil-using enterprises outside their mining concessions, which caused losses of over UAH 18 million.

During 2021-2022, such violations became more frequent, reports the State Environmental Inspection (SEI) of the Dnipro District.

Thus, spontaneous mining of subsoil was discovered outside the boundaries of mining concessions at the Veseliv loam deposit and the Obozniv sand deposit in the Kropyvnytskyi district. This caused losses to the state in the amount of 17.7 million and 426 thousand hryvnias, respectively.

In the message, it was noted that criminal proceedings have been instituted against the officials of the subsoil user enterprises, which carried out illegal extraction.

The press service of the State Inspectorate explained that the unauthorized extraction of subsoil violates the soil cover. In addition, uncontrolled extraction of minerals leads to depletion and impoverishment of their deposits, destroys natural landscapes and ecosystems.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Lviv region, eco-inspectors and police officers exposed the illegal extraction of 63 m3 of construction sand for more than 68 thousand hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Ukraine the reform of subsoil use has begun, which is designed to transform the State Geology and Subsoil Service into a service institution, modernize the "rules of the game" and ensure effective control by the state.
