In the coastal protection zone of the Dnipro, the developer was going to build three 25-story Sundance residential complex

The Supreme Court finally revoked the building permit for plot 7-9 on Mykilska Slobidka in Kyiv on the banks of the Dnipro River, near the Rusanivka district.

Activists fought for the preservation of nature for about 9 years, reports The Village Ukraine.

"The construction permit has been canceled! The decision is final and cannot be appealed," said activist Oleg Simoroz.

It is noted that on Mykilsko-Slobidska Street, 7-9, the developer had at his disposal three plots of land in the coastal protection strip of the Dnipro River, in particular, he owned one. He was going to build three 25-story Sundance housing complexes on them. However, in August 2023, the Supreme Court finally returned the two leased plots to the city.

The article emphasized that potential illegal construction also fell within the boundaries of the historical landscape of the Kyiv Mountains and the Dnipro River Valley, where urban planning, architectural or landscape transformations are prohibited. In court, the developer tried to challenge the inclusion of the plot at 7-9 Mykilsko-Slobidska Street within the boundaries of the monument.

It is noted that the community wants to create a park on the coast. However, part of the future park is still in private ownership. They are claimed by the developers, "Veleky construction" and the communal enterprise "Pleso". At the end of September 2023, "Oshchadbank" put up land plots between Mykilsko-Slobidska Street and Brovarsky Prospect for sale for development.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv, the residents of Mykilska Slobidka have been in courts and on construction sites for about 20 years protecting the Dnipro coast from development. They want to achieve the creation of a park on this territory, instead of concrete embankments and high-rise buildings.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Kyiv residents are demanding to stop the construction of the "Gravity Park" residential complex with 13 high-rise buildings on 18 hectares of forest in the Svyatoshyn district bordering the "Holosiivskyi" national nature park.
