In Kyiv, utility workers have planted a hedge of white derain bushes on the Dnipro embankment, which has noise-absorbing and dust-absorbing properties.
This will help improve the environment, the Darnytsia District State Administration in Kyiv reports on Facebook.
It is noted that this technology is also used as a background plant – that is, a kind of "protective screen" from highways.
"We are continuing the strategy of environmental protection," the press service said. "Very soon, the bushes will become a new green oasis of Darnytskyi district."
Netizens supported this initiative and called for planting bushes instead of fences.
"Very nice! Excellent planning of the carriageway and sidewalks – this green strip between them has great potential, – wrote user Tetyana Gavrilova. – This is exactly what they do in cities focused on people's comfort."
In 2023, 8,223 trees, 78,826 bushes, and 321,200 seedlings were planted in Kyiv. Throughout the year, the city also carried out ecological ice control, organized grass-free areas, cleared the Lybid River, and more.
As EcoPolitics previously reported, in 2021, a green fence was planted along the central Taras Shevchenko Park in Odesa.
