In Khmelnytskyi, in the Rakove microdistrict, a new Waste Management Center was opened, which became the second in the city.

The center was opened with the money of the utility company "Spetskomuntrans", namely with the profit from the production of biogas at the landfill, Khmelnytskyi deputy mayor Mykola Vavryshchuk reported on Facebook.

"Such centers are a real European approach to waste sorting, and, most importantly, to the popularization of this process among citizens," he emphasized.

Vavryshchuk noted that the Center accepts sorted waste into fractions for disposal and processing free of charge for Khmelnytskyi residents:

  • green waste;
  • construction;
  • glass;
  • paper;
  • PET;
  • metals;
  • hazardous waste (batteries, mercury-containing lamps and thermometers), varnishes, paints, glues and containers from them, medicines, filters, medicines);
  • household appliances;
  • furniture;
  • clothes;
  • polyethylene;
  • mixed waste.

The center is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Chornovola and Pilotska streets (tel: 067 304 72 75).

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that batteries, fluorescent lamps, household chemicals, medicines, electrical equipment, etc. can be handed in for recycling at the hazardous waste collection point "ecobus" in Khmelnytskyi in October.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the city of Khmelnytskyi earned more than 6 million hryvnias for four years production of electricity from landfill gas, which is mined at the local solid waste landfill.
