In Dnipro, on the night of October 2, a large-scale fire broke out in the "Pegasus" animal shelter, which destroyed part of the enclosures, a room for puppies and 16 tons of feed for 800 animals – a supply for 4 months.

Animal rights activists have announced a collection of 150,000 hryvnias to quickly help the shelter, the public organization UAnimals reports on Facebook.

The report said that the fire started around 4 am. People managed to run out of the building and open the cages, so there were no casualties.

However, the shelter's Facebook page said that the fire destroyed food supplies for 800 animals for 4 months, including dry feed, cereals, compound feed for horses, dogs, cats, cows, donkeys, camels and birds.

The head of the shelter, Olena Rusina, said that firefighters are currently investigating the cause of the fire, including the possibility of arson. Then they will begin to thoroughly assess the damage.

"You can support the "Pegasus" shelter, which suffered from the fire, with a donation. Go for link and send a courier donation," urged zookeepers.

As of the evening of October 2, it was already possible to collect more than 50 thousand hryvnias, that is, 33%.

The shelter added that IDPs and shelter workers also lived in the house. Now two families are left without a roof and belongings.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv, caring citizens began to restore the burnt outdoor cat shelter "Kotobaza", which was probably set on fire on September 23.
