In Kyiv, the construction of the OZON Concept House residential complex, which involves the felling of 1,691 trees, began again in Zvirynetskyi Square, in the Pechersk district.
This is the third company in 10 years that plans to build a square, urban planning expert Georgy Mohylnyi wrote on Facebook.
"Just the other day, activity began with documents for the renewal of development of one of the most scandalous areas in Kyiv - the so-called Zoo Square," he said.
Mohylnyi said that the developer company SAGA Development belongs to the odious Ukrainian businessman Andrii Vavrysh. Earlier, the company received a permit from the State Inspection of Architecture and Urban Planning for one two-section residential building up to 24 floors.
He added that the project is currently being adjusted to extend the permit for the construction of four residential buildings up to 17 floors with a stylobate, i.e. a plinth, of 4 floors.
The expert emphasized that the project has a number of violations. Thus, the documents indicate that the demolition of green vegetation on the slope is not foreseen, however, the removal of 1,691 trees is planned in the survey report. In addition, the alleged development violates several norms of the General Plan of Kyiv and is based on outdated decisions of the KMDA.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the environmental prosecutor's office of Kyiv sent an indictment to the court against the director of the private company that built the protected Dolobetsky island.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, illegal alienation of Obolonsky Island with an area of 147.7 thousand m2, located next to Natalka Park, into private property was prevented in Kyiv.
