4 new sanctuaries will be created in the capital

Trukhaniv Island will become a protected area in Kyiv. The relevant initiative of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine and KECC was supported by the Kyiv authorities.

This is stated on the Facebook page of the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC).

The other day, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Oleksandr Krasnolutsky appealed to Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko to support the creation of the "Trukhaniv Island-1", "Vikova Dibrova", "Koruchka" and "Orchid Forest" nature reserves. These protected objects are created at the initiative of Kyiv City Council members Olesya Pynzenyk, Ksenia Semenova and Denys Moskal. The technical documentation for these objects was prepared at KECC.

"In his reply, Deputy Mayor of Kyiv Petro Panteleev supported the creation of these protected objects. All of them are unique natural areas of Kyiv, where red-listed plants are still preserved. They must be protected from development. We thank the Ministry of Environment for their support," the message said.

As EcoPolitic reported, the authorities of Kyiv are required to preserve the Rusanivska Kosa, which is near the Rusanivka micro-district of the Dnipro district, from any construction, to preserve it in its natural state and not to hinder its visitation.
