The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine has completed the development of new translated reference documents on best available technologies and management methods (BTM) for ferrous metal processing enterprises.

The department informed about this on its pages in social networks.

The working group under the Ministry of Environment finalized the European NDTM reference document translated into Ukrainian for the field of ferrous metallurgy and harmonized all national technical terminology with the terminology of the European Union.

The department reminded that this is already the fifth European reference document on NDTM, which the Ministry of Environment has finalized for further implementation within the framework of the reform of reduction and control of industrial pollution. It will be used by Ukrainian industrialists, as well as authorities and other stakeholders.

The translated and adapted document contains a description of the real experience of the European industry regarding the implementation of BATM to prevent and influence the amount of pollution.

The next stage of the implementation of BATM in the field of ferrous metallurgy will be the approval of BATM conclusions at the national level. For this, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine must approve the relevant Procedure, which has already been developed by the Ministry of Environment.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in December 2022 the relevant ministry made public the first reference documents on the Best Available Technologies and Management Practices/BREFs for production iron and steel, cement, lime and magnesium oxide , as well as about energy efficiency . In March 2023 The Ministry of Environment published updated BATM for ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. In May of the same year the ministry made public newly translated reference documents on best available technologies and management practices for production glass and ceramics . And in July 2023 the department called the public to familiarize themselves with the published BATM regarding air emissions, surface treatment with organic solvents, blacksmithing and foundry industry and join the discussion.
