The structures had to be transported at night so that the 74-metre-long load would not obstruct traffic

In the Zakarpattia region, the first batch of wind turbine blades manufactured in Ukraine was transported from the production site. This posed a real logistical challenge due to the size of the structures.

The Perechyn Town Council announced this on Facebook.

Friendly Wind Technologies Ltd launched the mass production of blades last year. It is the first and, as yet, the only facility in Ukraine producing such components for wind turbines.

The city council notes that this is a very important event for the community, as 90 per cent of the production team are residents of this and neighbouring communities.

Friendly Wind Technology shared the details of the logistics operation. They explained that this was a pilot shipment of this type of cargo, which had been preceded by meticulous logistical preparation and planning.

The transport took place at night to minimise disruption to traffic. The consignment consisted of three blades, each weighing 25 tonnes. The structure is 74 metres long. Together, these components form a complete set for a 5.2 MW wind turbine.

"The blades successfully completed their journey through Zakarpattia and set off beyond the region’s borders to be used in the next wind energy project. This is another important step in the development of Ukraine’s energy engineering sector and confirmation that key components of modern wind turbines can be mass-produced in Ukraine by Ukrainian specialists", the company said.

EcoPolitika reported that in January 2026, the company’s facilities manufactured the first blade. The design was officially awarded the ‘Made in Ukraine’ label. Production itself began in 2025.

Friendly Wind Technologies launched its newly built wind turbine manufacturing plant in Zakarpattia in May 2024. The business had relocated from Kramatorsk, where production had become impossible due to the proximity of hostilities.

The company is part of the group of companies known as ‘Wind Parks of Ukraine’ LLC. The business has faced systematic criticism from environmentalists over the construction of wind farms in the high-altitude regions of the Carpathians. The project on the Runa mountain pasture has attracted the most attention. However, the Ministry of Economy and Environment stated that it was unable to intervene to halt construction.
