This is already the seventh blackout at the ZNPP since the beginning of the occupation

At the Zaporizhzhya NPP, due to Russian shelling on the morning of Monday, May 22, the last high-voltage power line, which fed the own needs of the temporarily occupied station, was damaged. Energy workers managed to restore power around 1:00 p.m.

The operation of the station was provided by diesel generators, the power of which would be enough for 10 days of safe operation, reports NAEK Energoatom in Telegram. Information updated as of Monday, May 22 at 1:14 p.m.

The message emphasized that the station needs energy for the operation of the nuclear fuel cooling pumps in the holding pools and nuclear reactors of the power units. If power could not be restored within 10 days, an accident with radiation consequences for the whole world could occur.

It is noted that this is already the seventh blackout at the ZNPP since the beginning of the occupation.

The message emphasized that the actions of the Russians at the ZNPP are constantly bringing the station closer to irreparable. That is why the Zaporizhzhya NPP must be immediately returned to the full control of the legal operator – Energoatom, with the subsequent bringing of the plant to normal operating mode and renewal of the facility's nuclear and radiation safety.

"This requires urgent action by the entire international community! The nuclear terrorism of the Russian Federation must be stopped immediately, and the invaders must leave the territory of the station and its satellite city of Energodar!

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Ukrainians will be able to monitor the level of background radiation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in Energodar online on the Saveecobot platform.
