Veterans recharge their batteries amid the natural beauty of the Danube Delta, where rehabilitation goes hand in hand with the revival of nature itself

Boat trips down the Danube, walks through protected areas, cozy gatherings around the campfire. In the fall, four camping trips for war veterans were held in the Danube Biosphere Reserve.

Rewilding Ukraine notes that such events help restore inner balance through communion with nature.

An experimental rehabilitation trip was held here in May, and in the fall, the "Nature for Veterans" program was continued on a large scale.

Wild nature acts as a powerful factor in psychological recovery. Participants travel through the Danube Delta surrounded by picturesque nature, socialize, and relax.

The organizers note that after everything they have been through, veterans need a place of tranquility, and nature provides it.

Restoring people in a place where nature has been restored

The travel routes run through Yermakov Island, an area that has been restored to its original appearance after human use.

According to Rewilding Ukraine, a rewilding program has been underway on the 2,300-hectare site for several years. The island's "population" consists of deer, wild horses, and water buffalo. Overall, the project is part of a larger plan to restore the ecosystem of the Danube River delta.
