An increase in ammonia concentrations was recorded in the Dneprovsky district

In Cherkassy, an increased level of air pollution with harmful substances was recorded, especially the concentration of ammonia in the Dnieper microdistrict.

Such data for the observation period of June 6-11, 2022 led to Cherkasy regional hydrometeorological center .

It is noted that the laboratory of the Cherkasy hydrometeorological center studied 395 samples of atmospheric air. Specialists selected them in three districts of the city: in the center, Dneprovsky and South-Western microdistricts four times a day.

Over the past week, the following harmful substances were found in the air, the concentrations of which exceed the maximum permissible concentration for the average daily content:

  • dust impurities: exceeded 1.3 times - on June 6, 9, 10 in the city center and on June 11 in the South-Western microdistrict;
  • ammonia: exceeded 1.3-2.9 times during a weekly period on Hetman Sahaydachny Street in the Dnieper microdistrict;
  • formaldehyde: indicators were exceeded by 1.3-1.7 times during the observation period on Hetman Sahaydachny Street in the Dnieper microdistrict.

How to compare with the previous week, an increase in ammonia concentrations was recorded in the Dnieper microdistrict. And in the city center, the amount of substances suspended in the air has increased.

In the Dnieper district, the content of formaldehyde has slightly decreased, which indicates a decrease in the amount of its emissions into the atmosphere.

As of June 14, a cold atmospheric front moved through the Cherkasy region, behind which colder air spread and the wind increased. Such weather conditions increase the ventilation of the city.

Before EcoPolicy reported that in Cherkasy they found harmful substances in the air and called most polluted area .
