Portugal will share with Ukraine its practices and developments in the implementation of the national system of trading quotas for greenhouse gas emissions, which it is currently conducting.

This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets on Facebook following a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Climate Action of Portugal, Duarte Cordeiro.

He noted that Portugal will also share with Ukraine the experience of water resources management, optimization of permitting procedures, and will also help with the implementation of better environmental practices.

Strilets said that at the meeting they discussed assistance with improving the legislation for the formation of an effective water policy.

"We are interested in the experience of our colleagues regarding the simplification and digitization of permit procedures. After all, the Ministry of Environment has been working in this direction for a long time," he said.

Cordeiro noted that in Portugal, part of the permits were canceled or integrated, and the rest were completely transferred to the online format. In addition, the terms of their receipt have been significantly shortened.

He also told how dialogues between business, government organizations and authorities are organized in Portugal to facilitate environmental impact assessment during the launch of new business projects.

"This kind of practice is also interesting for us", emphasized Strilets.

He added that Ukrainian experts were invited to visit Portugal to exchange experience in implementing environmental reforms, and the Portuguese will be able to see the consequences of Russian aggression for ecology.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Ricardo Lopez-Aranda Hagu discussed cooperation in the field of development of green investments.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Czech Republic will help Ukraine in green post-war environmental restoration, in particular, it will support natural parks, climate policy, reform of the waste management system, and the fight against industrial pollution.
