In the Obolon district of Kyiv, on the Obolon tract, it was noticed that the Dnipro riverbank is covered with a light turquoise layer of pollution.
This was reported by Kyiv.News.
The video, shot by local residents, shows how the Obolon tract has characteristic pollution on the Dnipro bank, which stretches along the tract's shoreline. The turquoise-colored pollution also spread to the vegetation of the coastal area.

According to local residents, there is a possibility that the pollution on the shore may be related to sewage discharges into the Dnipro, but there is no official confirmation of this data. Later, Kyiv environmental services will analyze the river water and officially identify the source of the pollution.
What impact does the pollution have on residents?
If the discharge of wastewater is confirmed, it poses a threat to water quality and the flora and fauna of the coastal area. It could also pose risks for people who use the shoreline for recreation.
Since the Dnipro is one of the main sources of water supply for the capital, any water contamination can affect residents' safety. Timely response from environmental services will help identify the cause of the pollution and prevent similar incidents in the future.
As a reminder, the discharge of pollutants into the Kamyanka River in Zhytomyr was eliminated on September 2 due to siltation of the sewage collector as a result of heavy rains.
Environmental inspectors said that the wastewater discharge has stopped and the river is gradually being cleaned. Currently, experts of instrumental and laboratory control are examining water samples taken on September 2 and 8.
The EcoPolicy Team also advises to read that in August, Kyiv residents noticed a green color of water in the Dnipro.
This is the result of an active algae bloom, which has intensified due to stagnant water, heat, and excess phosphates. The massive accumulation of algae is most noticeable in areas without active current, where their accumulation reaches its peak. Algae growth is not only a nuisance to Kyiv residents, but also to the aquatic life of the Dnipro. According to environmentalist Pavlo Lomazov, the oxygen is being thinned out, which has a negative impact on marine life.
