Environmentalists are sounding the alarm because of massive raiding of forests

Near Kyiv, the Petrivske village council has distributed 15 plots of land of the Klavdiyivka Forest Research Station for construction, and raiders have seized part of the pine forest near the village of Liutizh, Vyshgorod district.

The station's management turned to the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center for help in legal cases against the raiders, KECC reported on Facebook.

Environmentalists promised to help foresters fight the raiders in court.

"We have repeatedly written about the fact that the whole country is now undergoing a mass "destroying" of forests by various raiders. Taking advantage of the almost complete absence of state control, various village councils distribute forests for the construction of cottages," they said.

KECC added that in 2023 they managed to defend in court about 300 hectares of Bilotserkiv forest farm. Currently, ecologists are fighting for the return of 70 hectares of the Kyiv forest farm, in the area of the Geonaut cave, as well as part of the Izmail forest farm in Odesa.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Kyiv region, four residents of the region will be tried for illegal logging, which caused damage of more than 1.5 million hryvnias. They destroyed 134 trees on the territory of Boguslav forest farm.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the village of Bryukhovychy, which is part of Lviv, they illegally began to lower the water level in the lake, so as not to flood the newly built cottages on the shore.
