The official opening date will be announced soon

In May, the process of nationalization of Mezhyhirya, the former residence of Viktor Yanukovych, will be finally completed. For the first time in a decade, the park will direct its profits to the state budget.

This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

As it became known, in 2023, the Verkhovna Rada approved a law that returned Mezhyhiria to state ownership and created a new object of the nature reserve fund. This decision initiated the process of transforming the former residence into a state park-monument of landscape art of national importance, which pays special attention to the most outstanding and valuable objects of park construction. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a proposal to transfer assets seized in the framework of criminal proceedings to the management of the park-monument. Mezhyhirya will regain the right to manage its land plots, as well as paintings, cars, furniture, machinery, equipment, etc.

It is noted that a special "Mezhyhirya" administration has already been created, which is engaged in the preparation of all necessary documents. After the official opening of the park, all income from work will be directed to the state budget.

"Mezhyhirya acquires the status of not only a unique object, but also becomes one of the tools for supporting the economy of Ukraine and an object with a hundred new jobs," said Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

Serhiy Yuzvenko, Acting Director of Mezhyhirya, a monument of horticultural art of national importance, announced that the official opening date for visitors of the 2024 tourist season will soon be announced.

"Mezhihirya Park-Monument" is not only a valuable example of garden and park construction, but also a unique natural park. The newly created state institution works in accordance with regulatory and legal documents and builds the operation of the park-monument from the very "foundation". ": from the registration of land plots, which are determined by the ZU, by checking the operation of vital activity systems, accounting for plants, animals, and equipment in the monument park, to the development of new opportunities for mass recreation of people in nature," says Yuzvenko.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis and as a whole the government's draft law No. 9354 "On the creation of a park-monument of horticultural art of national importance "Mezhyhirya".

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi, said that in Ukraine in 2022-2023, over 90 hectares of protected lands were returned to the state in 2022-2023.
