Even one battery can cause great damage to nature

Residents and guests of Odesa were urged to hand over used batteries to proven chains of supermarkets and gas stations, where animals and the hologram "Guaranteed recycling" are displayed on the collection containers.

You can recycle up to 50 of any used batteries, including finger batteries, tablets and rechargeable batteries, at one time, Odesa Life reports.

The article emphasized that in the context of systematic Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system and power outages, the use of battery-powered devices has increased dramatically. And energy sources have to be replaced quite often.

The authors noted that not everyone who accepts batteries for further processing is conscientious about it. However, in the following stores and gas stations, this will be done guaranteed.

Reception points where you can hand in used batteries are located in all supermarkets of the following chains:

  • Silpo;
  • Comfi;
  • Epicenter;
  • Nova Liniya;
  • Jysk;
  • WOG gas stations.

The article emphasized that, if necessary, it is possible to dispose of more than 50 batteries directly contact the All-Ukrainian organization "Batteries, Surrender" by phone:

  • +38 (099) 311-shshsh-yash;
  • +38 (097) 168-55-shsh.

In landfills under the influence of the sun, batteries are quickly destroyed, and the substances that are in their composition evaporate and are washed away. Only one battery can pollute 16-20 square meters of land or 400 liters of water. Already through water and air, toxic metals enter living organisms, as a result of which they cause damage to organs, impair reproductive abilities and cause cancer.

"Even one battery can cause great damage to nature, and if we take into account the consequences of the war, then this damage will be simply irreparable," the article emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the residents of Rivne sent it for disposal in December 1490 kilograms of spent batteries.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors recorded in Odesa and the region numerous cases of unauthorized landfills industrial, construction and household waste.
