In the capital, Obolon Island has received the prestigious international Green Flag Award, which confirms that the recreation area meets safety, accessibility, and environmental standards.

This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko in a telegram.

The online assessment took place at the end of July this year with the participation of international judges. The decision to award the island with the Green Flag Award was made after a thorough testing and verification of the compliance of the information provided with the real state of affairs.

As a reminder, on September 22, in the Obolon district of Kyiv, the Obolon tract was noticed to be covered with a light turquoise layer of pollution.

The videos filmed by local residents show how the Obolon tract has a characteristic pollution on the Dnipro bank that stretches along the tract's shoreline. The turquoise-colored pollution also spread to the vegetation of the coastal area.
