The regional architectural and urban planning council has approved a plan to build a wind farm in Poltava region.
The total area of the future facility will be 47,000 hectares, and its estimated capacity will be 650 MW, the Regional Water Resources Office in Poltava Oblast reports on Facebook.
Work on the wind farm project began in 2020, but work was suspended due to the full-scale war. The idea of construction was revived only last year.
It is planned that about 100 wind turbines will be installed on the territory of the Hlobyn community, located at a considerable distance from each other. Experts from the architectural and urban planning council have reviewed in detail the plans for the areas outside the community's settlements that are to be allocated for wind farms.
Hlobyne Mayor Stanislav Dzhus says that the wind farm will help cover the electricity shortage not only in the community but also in the entire eastern region.
As Ecopolitic previously reported, the first wind turbine of the Ostrovsky wind farm with a capacity of 4.8 MW has been installed in the Nyzhnivoritska community on the border of Lviv and Zakarpattia regions.
