Netizens were interested in how the dolphins ended up in the estuary

Two dolphins, probably mother and calf, were spotted in Mykolaiv region in the Buzky estuary.

A post with a video with dolphins was published in the Facebook community "Animal world of Ukraine".

Netizens noticed that the animal's skin looked as if the dolphin had burns. The community suggested that this could be the effect of the animal being in fresh water for a long time, as it is a marine mammal.

"I don't make a diagnosis based on the photo, but the skin damage is similar to that caused by prolonged exposure to fresh water. Interesting. If this is so, then it is not fatal," he wrote zoologist Pavlo Goldin.

Users were also interested in how the dolphins ended up in the Buzki estuary.

Dolphins have been spotted in the reservoir before, for example, in April 2020, a bottlenose dolphin swam into the estuary.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in July on the occupied coast of the Sea of Azov in the Zaporizhzhia region, on the territory of the Kosa Fedotova landscape reserve, near the village of Kyrylivka, local residents found dead dolphins.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovska HPP, the Black Sea carried about 150 dead Ukrainian dolphins to the shores of Bulgaria and Turkey.
