Polluting enterprises in the Lviv region for the period from January to April 2022 paid UAH 28.6 million of environmental tax.
This was announced on Tuesday, May 10, by the press service of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
According to the department, in the first four months of this year, the budget received 28.6 million hryvnias of eco-tax from polluting enterprises in the Lviv region. Of these, enrollment in a special fund of the regional budget – the regional fund for environmental protection is 8.5 million hryvnia. 7.4 million hryvnias were allocated to the local budgets of communities, and 12.7 million hryvnias to the state budget.
As noted in the department, this money will be directed to the implementation of environmental and resource-saving measures related to the protection of the environment, prevention, reduction and elimination of environmental pollution in the future.
They also emphasized that Ukraine has been suffering losses as a result of a full-scale Russian invasion for more than two months. The functioning of the country also depends on the provision of tax revenues to the budgets of all levels. These include the eco-tax, which in essence is a compensation by enterprises for the pollution that they carry out by their activities, and stimulates the reduction of pollutant emissions and creates a more conscientious attitude towards natural resources among polluters.
Before EcoPolitica wrote what are the environmental tax rates who pays it and whether the state uses the proceeds from it effectively.
Recall also that in Ukraine for 2022 enterprises located in the territories of military operations will not be charged and do not need to pay environmental tax.
