In Khmelnytskyi region an entrepreneur from Letychev was informed of the suspicion of pollution, spoilage and mismanagement of land due to the production of charcoal.

The entrepreneur arbitrarily occupied the land intended for commercial agricultural production and launched 11 pyrolysis ovens, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office reports on Facebook.

The press service emphasized that the entrepreneur did not have any permission to burn charcoal.

"Such actions disturbed the structure of the soil and caused contamination of the land with harmful substances, which poses a danger to the environment," the message says.

It is noted that the perpetrator faces a fine from 17,000 to 51,000 hryvnias or restriction of freedom for a term of up to 2 years, with or without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years.

Earlier, Ecopolitic wrote, that in 2021, law enforcement officers discovered an illegal charcoal production enterprise in the Kupyan district of the Kharkiv region.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Zaporizhzhia, in the industrial zone of the Shevchenkiv district, an entrepreneur installed an artisanal furnace in which he melts batteries. Such activity produces black smoke with a very unpleasant smell.
